Priestess-in-Training

Artemis from the Greek pantheon and Bast for the Egyptian one are often represented as young, independent women.  Artemis as the lunar virgin huntress and Lady of the Wild Animals and Bast as the solar sexual cat headed goddess, fierce Eye of Ra and protector of Lower Egypt.  Since these two were often linked in ancient times I’m choosing to combine them in this modern interpretation.  I have a great respect for the individuality of these two strong Goddesses, but for Buffy the Vampire Slayer I could not find one goddess that suited her properly.  Buffy, who is already surrounded by the slayer mythology, is the My Modern Gods Goddess who is a strong, independent woman.  She is both lunar and solar, as she fights the forces for darkness with her light, but at the same time is always connected to the night.  She is obviously a protector, not only of Sunnydale, but of the whole world and especially of those who can not defend themselves.  She is neither maiden nor mother and her cult following pushed her into realm of legend.
